New Year, New Goals

I’m so thrilled that 2015 has finally started. Not that I didn’t like 2014 but there’s something about a new year. It’s like starting a new chapter in your life.

In 2014 I did lots of fun stuff. The most memorial thing I did was going to LA. I wrote a few posts about it on my blog but then I stopped though. For me, it was the best trip I’ve ever made in my life. I visited so many places and met so many people. Also, I finally had the chance to visit my sister Julie who’s living near Redondo Beach. I still think about this vacation every day and I know that one day I’ll definitely be going back.

To afford this trip, I had to make money so I got a job in a restaurant in my town. It definitely isn’t my dream job but it’s nice to have left some money at the end of the month.

This summer I went to Albufeira with my boyfriend Francis and his friends. I had a great time but I wouldn’t do it again. It couldn’t beat my road trip in the United States. I rather save my money and go to a more exciting place. Don’t get me wrong, I found it so cool to go with my friends but they’re boys and they like to party a lot which is totally not my thing.

In 2014, I also made some great friends. My best friends are called Felien en Elien and we did lots of fun stuff this year, like going to the gym together and meet up for our dinner dates. We had this idea to every now and then cook for each other which is the best. I’ll insert some pictures here in which you can see what we created.

In July, I met up with some girls of high school. I really don’t drink that often, in fact I almost never drink but that night, they got me drunk! I think I had more mojito’s than I should… 😉

Fitness-related, not a whole lot has changed. I still work out 5 times a week (or at least I try to). However this year I started weight training. I always got a little bit scared when seeing all those machines and big guys in the gym but now I know that I don’t need to feel like that. I’m very disciplined and in September (when I really started focussing on weights) I started to notice some muscle definition. I’m so pleased with the results!

One of my goals for 2014 was to make videos again. A few years ago, making videos was my passion. I started filming again a few weeks back. If you would like to see some of my videos, you can go to my Youtube channel!

Something else that I really enjoyed doing was taking cooking classes. Every Thursday we made a 3-course menu. Although a lot of times I didn’t really like the food we made, I found it very relaxing to actually take the time to cook a whole meal.

10811543_10200111918518724_1613609265_n2014 was a great year but not the best. In December I struggled a bit with myself. I had exams, didn’t feel good about myself; the weather has been bad (I hate winter) and I worried a lot about all the changes that I’m going through.  Maybe I’ll write a post about this topic in the future.

Here are some pictures (taken in 2014) that make me happy:

September & October Goals

I haven’t done one of these in a while but since making goals are my life, I wanted to share a few new ones that I want to achieve at the end of October.

  1. Make an aftermovie: I went on a road trip to the West (coast) of the USA and I filmed a lot with Francis’ Gopro. Since I haven’t made that much pictures, I want to make an aftermovie as a memory of this incredible trip.
  2. Read ‘The Little Book of Mindfulness’: I bought this book in Urban Outfitters. It immediately got my attention because I love being mindful about things. It helps me to get relaxed instead of stressed. I would even like to write about things that I’ve read and that I use or do in my daily life routine.
  3. Train for ‘my’ half marathon: A few weeks ago I ran 15K for the first time. I did it in 1h27min which I feel is a great time. Afterwards I felt so excited about the distance I ran. I felt like my body was capable to run even more so I set a new goal. At the end of November I want to run 21k or half of a marathon. I’ll keep you updated every now and then.
  4. Cut out soda: When I was in America, I didn’t drink any soda at all. I hope I keep on remaining this good habit.
  5. Buy new clothes for my autumn/winter wardrobe: I literally don’t have autumn or winter clothes. I’m thinking about going for a lot of dresses this year because I love how easy it is to put on. Also, I want to get a new pair of long leather boots. What about writing a post with styles I like?

Enjoy your Sunday

First love, break up, growing up

A few nights ago, I went for a walk. That’s what I do a lot lately. It gives me the chance to think about certain things but also just to be outside and enjoy nature. I think it’s so peaceful.

I like to think about my hightlights of the day. I honestly feel better afterwards. It gives everything more sense. You should do it too.

Since I’ve started exercising, I have been feeling amazing. This in combination with my healthier lifestyle, makes me feel so relax. I haven’t felt stress in a long time. I can’t describe the feeling I get sometimes. I feel so blessed that I can go through such feelings.

As I’ve mentioned a few times already on my blog, I have had a time (2 years ago) in which I felt terrible. My first ever love broke up with me and it felt like I had nothing anymore. He was my rock, you know.

I’m sure everyone has once felt that way. Losing someone that means the world to you can be pretty hard. But as time goes by, that pain goes away. Slowly but it’s possible.

Anyway, that was the first time in my life that I went through something this painful. It definitely was pain on a higher level. When we broke up, I never knew that it would also be the start of something new. That’s what I realised. Sometimes, you need to experience pain in order to learn.

Before I started this relationship, I was 15-years-old. I was very young, naive and most of all, careless. I didn’t care about things in a way that I do now. During the relationship, I became more aware of how life can be complicated sometimes. I constantly was stressed out but I didn’t really know why. I was very strict about things and wanted to be perfect. Then, there was that terrible chapter in my life in which I went through a depression. It was awful and weird too. In January 2013, I made little changes in how I lived, physically and mentally. Now, I feel like I’m in a much better state.

I feel like I’ve grown up because of that break up. I used to be so impulsive and naive. Now on the other hand, I’m still naive but I think a lot more before I do something. I’m much wiser. You don’t have to be perfect to be happy. I do stupid things sometimes too. Everyone does.

Something that makes me feel so much better is the thought that you don’t have to be like everyone else. People of my age like to go out, drink, smoke, meet their friends all the time, go to sleepovers,… But that’s just not me. I’m not that girl. I like to do other things and I’m fine with that. I like to think a lot, be on my own, go to the gym, spend time with my boyfriend, clean up, listen to songs because of the lyrics and not because of the singer. Most of all, I like to dream.

When I met Francis, I didn’t feel the same as I did for my first boyfriend. I think that’s normal. I wasn’t the same person either. I was torn. However, our relationship grew and so did my love for him. Every day I loved him a little bit more. You can’t compare relationships because every person and every relationship is different of course.

Anyway, I just wanted to tell about my experience with break ups, first loves, growing up,… I will always feel bad about my first break up because it was so painful. I will never be able to erase that. However I can live with it. I became a better person and I’m thankful for that. Besides, when two people break up, there will always be a reason for that.

Francis is my second real boyfriend but I don’t like to call him ‘the second one’. He’s just Francis and he’s amazing, in all ways. Of course, he isn’t perfect but I don’t want to have a perfect boyfriend. The most important thing is that your boyfriend takes care of you and loves you for who you are.

Have you ever experienced a painful break up?

How I Stay Motivated To Work Out

  1. My first tip is the most important one : you have to do it for yourself. Working out is not something that you do to please someone else. It’s something that you do because you feel better about yourself. Maybe you want to feel more energized or you want to be in a better condition or maybe you even want to lose some weight. Set your own goals, write them down and never forget them. It’s your body and your health, it’s up to you what you want to do with it. Make yourself proud!
  2. My second tip : results. The moment that results are showing, you will get so motivated to go on. Seriously! I’ve worked a lot to achieve my goal to be more toned and stronger. Last week I got two major compliments. My boyfriend said that my legs were so much more toned and that I looked beautiful. The second compliment I got was one of the coach in my fitness. He said that I looked amazing and that working out really paid off!
  3. Search your motivation on the Internet. There are so many fitnessguru’s on Youtube that will help you and motivate you to go on. Same with work out routines. Internet is the best place to inspire you. Sometimes I love to read quotes about health and fitness because it really does make me realize that it’s very important to take care of that.
  4. Buy new work out clothing. As I mentioned already in one of my previous posts, I rewarded myself with new work out clothing. I immediately felt motivated because you feel good in those clothes. I would recommend very colorful and brightening clothing because that’s the way I personally feel when I work out.
  5. It’s also necessary to have a good work out playlist. I feel like I‘m on top of the world when I listen to good music while exercising. Here are a few of my favorite songs :

1)      Sebastian Ingrosso & Tommy Trash – Reload
2)      Feel So Close – Calvin Harris
3)      Contiez Ft. Trevy G. – Trumpsta
4)      Wilkinson – Afterglow
5)      MGMT- Kids
6)      M83 – Midnight City
7)      Gnarls Barkley – Run
8)      FAUL – Changes (Feat Wad Ad)
9)      Dire Straits- Walk Of Life
10)   Avicii – Hey Brother

I hope you liked this post! Now go downloading my work out playlist and buy some new work out clothing. 🙂
