New Year, New Goals

I’m so thrilled that 2015 has finally started. Not that I didn’t like 2014 but there’s something about a new year. It’s like starting a new chapter in your life.

In 2014 I did lots of fun stuff. The most memorial thing I did was going to LA. I wrote a few posts about it on my blog but then I stopped though. For me, it was the best trip I’ve ever made in my life. I visited so many places and met so many people. Also, I finally had the chance to visit my sister Julie who’s living near Redondo Beach. I still think about this vacation every day and I know that one day I’ll definitely be going back.

To afford this trip, I had to make money so I got a job in a restaurant in my town. It definitely isn’t my dream job but it’s nice to have left some money at the end of the month.

This summer I went to Albufeira with my boyfriend Francis and his friends. I had a great time but I wouldn’t do it again. It couldn’t beat my road trip in the United States. I rather save my money and go to a more exciting place. Don’t get me wrong, I found it so cool to go with my friends but they’re boys and they like to party a lot which is totally not my thing.

In 2014, I also made some great friends. My best friends are called Felien en Elien and we did lots of fun stuff this year, like going to the gym together and meet up for our dinner dates. We had this idea to every now and then cook for each other which is the best. I’ll insert some pictures here in which you can see what we created.

6tag_160814-235856 6tag_080814-183431     We also went to a friend of ours to enjoy a fun jacuzzi night with some drinks.

In July, I met up with some girls of high school. I really don’t drink that often, in fact I almost never drink but that night, they got me drunk! I think I had more mojito’s than I should… 😉

Fitness-related, not a whole lot has changed. I still work out 5 times a week (or at least I try to). However this year I started weight training. I always got a little bit scared when seeing all those machines and big guys in the gym but now I know that I don’t need to feel like that. I’m very disciplined and in September (when I really started focussing on weights) I started to notice some muscle definition. I’m so pleased with the results!

One of my goals for 2014 was to make videos again. A few years ago, making videos was my passion. I started filming again a few weeks back. If you would like to see some of my videos, you can go to my Youtube channel!

Something else that I really enjoyed doing was taking cooking classes. Every Thursday we made a 3-course menu. Although a lot of times I didn’t really like the food we made, I found it very relaxing to actually take the time to cook a whole meal.

10811543_10200111918518724_1613609265_n2014 was a great year but not the best. In December I struggled a bit with myself. I had exams, didn’t feel good about myself; the weather has been bad (I hate winter) and I worried a lot about all the changes that I’m going through.  Maybe I’ll write a post about this topic in the future.

Here are some pictures (taken in 2014) that make me happy:

September & October Goals

I haven’t done one of these in a while but since making goals are my life, I wanted to share a few new ones that I want to achieve at the end of October.

  1. Make an aftermovie: I went on a road trip to the West (coast) of the USA and I filmed a lot with Francis’ Gopro. Since I haven’t made that much pictures, I want to make an aftermovie as a memory of this incredible trip.
  2. Read ‘The Little Book of Mindfulness’: I bought this book in Urban Outfitters. It immediately got my attention because I love being mindful about things. It helps me to get relaxed instead of stressed. I would even like to write about things that I’ve read and that I use or do in my daily life routine.
  3. Train for ‘my’ half marathon: A few weeks ago I ran 15K for the first time. I did it in 1h27min which I feel is a great time. Afterwards I felt so excited about the distance I ran. I felt like my body was capable to run even more so I set a new goal. At the end of November I want to run 21k or half of a marathon. I’ll keep you updated every now and then.
  4. Cut out soda: When I was in America, I didn’t drink any soda at all. I hope I keep on remaining this good habit.
  5. Buy new clothes for my autumn/winter wardrobe: I literally don’t have autumn or winter clothes. I’m thinking about going for a lot of dresses this year because I love how easy it is to put on. Also, I want to get a new pair of long leather boots. What about writing a post with styles I like?

Enjoy your Sunday

Did I Succeed in My April Goals?

IMG_1836I made a lot of awesome walks. Towards the end of the month, I did that same route but at that time, I ran it. I became that person that needs to go outside at least one hour each day.

10312135_4314130909480_1702295081_nThis picture was made right after a one hour weight training workout and a half an hour run. My boyfriend said that I look great in this picture. He defined it as energetic, bright and healthy. I love when he says such thing because I feel like he really understands how good I feel after a good workout. Oh and I’m wearing my brand new top from H&M. I love the minty color.

My second goals was to blog more and I guess I blogged more than usual this month but towards the end, I forgot about it.

I didn’t make my own healthy macaroons which I’m sad about. The main reason is that I didn’t have all the ingredients at home. I’m definitely going to try them in the future though.

I also wanted to make my own popsicles this month. I made them but never really blogged about it just because I couldn’t give an exact recipe. There are so much varieties, you know. I just cut up fruit and put it in the popsicle and then added some liquid to fill it up.

After I’ve reflected on my previous goals, I’ll always write down my goals for the new month. Here are 4 goals for May :

  1. I want to run at least 3, maybe 4 times a week. I prefer to do it after my weight training work out. Most of the times I run about half an hour.
  2. Juicing really prevents my skin from blemishes. I’ll try to juice every day.
  3. This will sound weird but I really want to focus on my studies. I find it really hard to stay concentrated sometimes. This month I really need to try my best because in June, I’ll have exams.
  4. I want to do a post ‘What I Ate’. I’ve seen it on other blogs and I find it very interesting to see what other people eat in a day.

Did I Succeed In My March Goals?

I made a cookie in a jar. I didn’t actually bake it but I did put the dry ingredients in a jar and made it all look beautfiul. I decided to not post this on my blog because the result isn’t as pretty as all the other ones on Pinterest. I really recommend trying to make this yourself. It’s a great gift too.

I stopped drinking diet coke, something I wanted to try for a longer time but never really took the energy to do so.

This month I bought superfoods and ‘healthier’ products at the bio shop. I’m still really excited about it. I also bought cookies in that shop because you have all these famous bars, cookies, chocolate brands,… that are gluten free, sugar free, dairy free… I love how there is so much choice. The only downside would be that these brands are more expensive than the ones in an actual supermarket.

After I’ve reflected on my previous goals, I’ll always write down my goals for the new month. Here are 4 goals for April :

  1. DIY : I want to make my own popsicles. These look great, don’t you think! I’m definitely going to experiment with different flavors. 6323294cdbb9d6869429971d022cd161
  2. Recipe : I want to make these healthy macaroons from ‘I Love Health’ *
  3. Sporty : I want to walk a lot more often outside. I find myself feel more relaxed afterwards. It just gives me the time to think about things and to enjoy the beautiful weather that we are having currently.
  4. Blogging : I would like to write down blog posts more often.

Did I Succeed In My February Goals?

I made my own rainbow melted crayon art piece. It didn’t turn out the way I wanted it to be but I still like it. It’s very colorful and it was awesome to make.

IMG_1273I’ve run 12k in the beginning of the month.Although, I can’t remember running 12k, it wasn’t very hard for me.

I donated blood for the first time with two friends of mine and Next month, I’ll do it again. It didn’t take long at all and it didn’t hurt either.

As you can see, I don’t have a picture of my Valentine’s Day treats. That’s because I didn’t make any. I did gave my boyfriend hot choco sticks.

After I’ve reflected on my previous goals, I’ll always write down my goals for the new month. Here are 4 goals for March :

  1. I want to give up diet coke for once and for always. I think this is going to be a difficult one though.
  2. I want make my own cookie jar. I saw this idea on Pinterest before and I find it an adorable birthday present.
  3. I want to eat a salad every day. I do this for most day but sometimes I’m too lazy to make one. This time, I’m really going to make an effort. Also, I like to make a few recipes from Pascale Naessens, a health guru here in Belgium. I really like her book and the few recipes that I already made were a success.
  4. This one might sound strange because I just said that I’m going to eat lots of vegetables. However, I’d like to focus on eating some sweets every now and then. I find it very difficult to not binge when eating sugary food. I want to be that girl that can eat like 2 cookies and then stop. I’ll try and keep you updated about it. Also, I’m thinking about experimenting again in the kitchen and write recipes again.

Did I Succeed in My January Goals?

  • I wanted to run 10k in 1 hour and I…. succeeded! I actually did this run yesterday morning on the very last day of January. It wasn’t hard at all.
  • I made a scrub but not from the website I had mentioned. I made my own lip scrub just by mixing sugar with olive oil. My lips are so dry lately because of the cold weather. This srub was the perfect idea.
  • I’ve made my own vision board and it’s standing on my desk. I even made a blog post about it.
  • I didn’t make a jar of happiness, just because I don’t know if i’m going to keep writing little notes about my life. My blog is already my diary so I figured it would be too much. That doesn’t take away that I’ll ever make this as a present for someone.

After I’ve reflected on my previous goals, I’ll always write down my goals for the new month. Here are 4 goals for February :

  1. I want to make my own rainbow melted crayon art piece. I saw this several times on Pinterest and I love the idea.
  2. I want to run 12k (10k/h). I know this will be a hard one but I really want to succeed.
  3. I want to make valentine’s day treats.
  4. I want to donate blood in the month of February. I’m old enough now to do it and it’s very important to do it.
